Preventing childhood obesity in preschoolers

putting successful models into perspective in europe

26.Sept. - 28.sept.2018 At SCHLOSS RIF (UNIVERSity of SALZBURG)

Do you know the Finnish city of Seinäjoki or the EPODE project in France? These projects have succeeded in drastically reducing the prevalence of overweight or obese children in their communities. Fortunately, there are now positive examples which challenge the specialist world by recording remarkable successes and enabling more children to grow up without being overweight.

It is undisputed that everyone must act in concert in order to reduce children's obesity in the long term. Together with key figures from politics, science and society, we will discuss how this collaboration can be achieved and how great results can be obtained across the whole of Europe. Discuss with us how the action plans of WHO, the European Commission and national governments are further put into practice and how parents and their children can live a healthy daily life with ease.

Hence the aim of the symposium is
• to link up experts in early childhood education, health promotion, all nutrition and movement related disciplines and politics, stimulating the exchange, and
• to exchange current, international findings among health promoters, policy makers and scientists,
in order to implement successful models in Europe for children's health in the sense of evidence-based practice.

We are delighted that we have already won prestigious national and international experts with a lot of practical experience and look forward to your participation.
