"With SALTO we want to convey the joy of physical activity from an early age on. Thereby ideal conditions for an active lifestyle and a healthenhancing cardiovascular fitness are created. Substantial protective factors to avoid unhealthy weight are thereby triggered."

"Already at child age obesity is accompanied by a higher risk of related diseases: high blood pressure, impaired insulin metabolism, increased blood cholesterol occur isolated or combined already for our youngest. The first life years offer a unique chance to steer the body weight into a healthy direction. This is where SALTO takes its starting point."

Mag.a Verena Aistleitner
Sociologist, Project manager SALTO

"We all know how difficult it is to change habits or even let something completely new into our life - even when we know that it would be good for us. Thus SALTO is a project which together with parents and the kindergarten team makes daily routines of small children healthier and more active. "Healthy habits" are adopted playfully and can be maintained a whole life. Particularly important to me is that noone in the projects feels left alone - together we can reach the goal faster and more easily."

"Have you ever seen the beaming face of a child who is showing its parents its first forward roll? With SALTO we want to convey to children the joy of physical activity and healthenhancing nutrition."

"Not everything is god-given - preferences and aversions of foods and the need to be moving can be steered and are changeable. Especially children are very capable of learning - they learn of role models and learn mostly by watching. Easy rules and measures for everyday life regarding nutrition and physical activity should strengthen competences of aduls and support them in their role model function."

"A child which we encourage learns self-confidence." We, at SALTO, not olny want to encourage the child but also the parents and kindergarten teachers. We are supporting along the way and want to strenghten the self-confidence of all parties involved to also dare something unknown and new. Either nutrition or physical activity."
