"With SALTO we want to convey the joy of physical activity from an early age on. Thereby, ideal conditions for an active lifestyle and healthenhancing cardiovascular fitness are created. Substantial protective factors for avoiding unhealthy weight are triggered."

"Already in early childhood obesity is accompanied by a higher risk of related diseases. High blood pressure, impaired insulin metabolism and increased blood cholesterol may occur, either as singular risks or in combination thereof for our youngest. The first years of life offer a unique opportunity to steer the body weight to a healthy direction. This is where SALTO identifies as its starting point."

Mag.a Verena Aistleitner
Sociologist, Project Manager SALTO

"We all know how difficult it is to change habits or even let something completely new into our lives - even when we know that it would be good for us. Thus, SALTO is a project that together with parents and the kindergarten teams, makes the daily routines of small children healthier and more active. "Healthy habits" are adopted playfully and can be maintained throughout one's life. Particularly important to me is that no one in the project feels that they are left alone - together we can reach the goal faster and more easily."

"Have you ever seen the beaming face of a child who is showing its parents its first forward roll? With SALTO, we want to convey to children the joy of physical activity and health-enhancing nutrition."

"Not everything is God-given - preferences and aversions of foods and the need to move can be steered and are changeable. Children especially are very capable of learning - they learn from role models and learn mostly by watching. Easy rules and measures for everyday life regarding nutrition and physical activity should strengthen competences of adults and support them in their role model function."

"A child whom we encourage learns self-confidence." We, at SALTO, not only want to encourage the children, but also the parents and kindergarten teachers. We are supporting them all along the way and want to strengthen the self-confidence of all parties involved to also dare to do something unknown and new: either nutrition or physical activity."
