The EPODE-Network

The EPODE method results from the pilot study (FLVS study) which was conducted between 1992 and 2004 in several municipalities of northwestern France. It was impressively shown that the prevalence of obesity was significantly reduced due to the coordinated, community based approach (Romon et al, Public Health Nutrition, 2009; 12: 1735–1742). As a result, the European Network (EEN) and only a short while later the EPODE International Network (EIN) were founded. One hundred and fifty million people have already benefited from this method.

SALTO (SALzburg Together against Obesity) applies this approved method and was accepted after a long and strict check as a member of the European Network as the first initiative in the German speaking area.

EPODE ... short for Ensemble Prévenons l’Obesité Des Enfants means "Together let's prevent childhood obesity".
